A: SK1 (standard surface mount) works for most hollow metal and wood frames. SK2 is for wide-gap aluminum storefront frames. SK3 is for concealed installation in wood. SK4 is armor-plated for high-abuse areas. SK5 handles uneven gaps. SK6 mounts overhead. When in doubt, measure your door-to-frame gap and call us.
Q: Can I add a key switch to an existing EAX-500?
A: Yes. The KS (key switch) option can be added as a remote on/off switch — mount it at a staff desk or behind a counter so employees can silence the alarm without walking to the door. Order the EAX-500KS variant or add a key switch kit separately.
Q: What's the difference between standard key and IC7?
A: Standard uses a fixed key unique to the EAX-500. IC7 accepts Detex interchangeable cores — you can rekey without removing the lock from the device. IC7 is the smart choice if you're managing multiple alarmed doors across a facility.
