IEI Keypads: Rugged Access Control That Handles Anything You Throw at It

IEI (International Electronics Inc.) has been the professional's choice for standalone keypads and access control for decades. Known for their "Auto-Voltage-Select" (AVS) technology that automatically detects 12V or 24V input, IEI keypads eliminate wiring headaches and reduce callbacks. At Lock Depot, we stock the full IEI lineup for everything from a single storefront to a multi-door commercial facility.

The IEI 212 Series is the industry's best-selling standalone keypad -- simple to program, easy to install, and built to last. For applications requiring more users, relay outputs, or weatherproof construction, the IEI 2000 Series with its heavy-duty metal keys and cast-aluminum housing is virtually indestructible. When a customer asks for "the keypad that won't break," we hand them an IEI.

IEI Keypads FAQ

What does IEI's Auto-Voltage-Select (AVS) mean?

AVS technology allows the keypad to automatically detect whether it is receiving 12V or 24V power and adjusts accordingly. This eliminates the need for voltage jumpers or DIP switches, reducing installation errors and callbacks caused by incorrect wiring.

Can the IEI 212 control an electric strike directly?

Yes. The IEI 212 has a built-in relay output that can directly trigger an electric strike or maglock. For higher-current locks, an external relay can be added. The 212's timed relay feature lets you set how long the strike stays unlocked after a valid code is entered.

Which IEI keypad is best for outdoor use?

The IEI 2000eM is purpose-built for outdoor and vandal-prone environments. Its cast-aluminum housing, metal keys, and sealed design withstand extreme temperatures, rain, and physical abuse. It's the standard recommendation for gates, parking lots, and unattended entry points.
