ECL-230D Detex Exit Control Lock — Alarmed Deadbolt Panic Device, Gray
Secondary exits — warehouse doors, stockroom exits, side doors — are the #1 source of unauthorized access and employee theft. You can't chain them shut (fire code), but you need to know when someone uses them. The Detex ECL-230D solves this — Code-compliant, battery-alarmed deadbolt panic device. Steel plate construction with 100dB alarm. The 230D is Detex's workhorse exit control — manages secondary exits where you need an alarm to deter unauthorized use but still allow emergency egress.

How long does the 9V battery last?
Under normal conditions (1-2 alarm activations per day), expect 1-3 years of battery life. The alarm draws current only when activated. We recommend annual battery replacement as part of your door hardware inspection schedule.
Can this be used on a fire-rated door?
The ECL series is UL listed panic hardware and can be used on fire-rated openings where panic hardware is required. Verify with your AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) for your specific door assembly configuration.
What's the difference between the ECL-230D and ECL-230X?
The 230X has a hardened deadbolt for higher security applications and includes a photo-luminescent sign. The 230D is the standard-duty version. Both produce 100dB alarm and meet the same code requirements.
