Product Description
Von Duprin 050016 DS-LC Conversion Kit — Add Latch Monitoring to 6000 Series Strikes
The Von Duprin 050016 converts a standard Von Duprin 6000-series electric strike to DS-LC (Dual Signal with Latch Monitoring) operation. The kit adds a dedicated latch bolt sensor that tells your access control system whether the latch is actually engaged in the strike pocket — not just whether the door is closed. Critical for high-security applications where you need to know the door is truly locked, not just shut.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: The DS-LC gives you two distinct signals: one for door position (open/closed) and one for latch engagement (latched/unlatched). That second signal is what separates this from a standard DS strike. If your access control system can read both signals, you can set up alarms for "door closed but not latched" — which catches tailgating and doors that didn't fully close.
