    Product Description

    Surface vertical rod devices secure at the head and threshold with rods visible on the door face. The standard configuration for double doors without a center mullion — each leaf latches independently into the header and floor.

    The Sargent 12-8710J-ETW-LHR-10B is a fire-rated Grade 1 surface vertical rod exit device from the 80 Series for 42" openings with Single Dummy function. UL listed for fire-rated openings up to 3 hours.

    Escutcheon, W Lever provides outside access while the push bar handles emergency egress from inside.

    This device is Left Hand Reverse. Exit devices are HANDED and cannot be reversed in the field. Stand outside the door facing it: hinges on the left = Left Hand, hinges on the right = Right Hand. If the door swings toward you, add "Reverse." Verify your handing before ordering.
    Fire Rated (12- prefix) — This device is UL listed for fire-rated openings. Do NOT substitute a non-fire-rated device (8- prefix) on a fire-rated opening — your fire marshal will require removal and replacement.

    Oil Rubbed Bronze — the 10B finish with a living patina that develops character over time. Popular in boutique hotels, upscale restaurants, and residential-feeling commercial spaces.

    Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: Exit devices are HANDED — and getting the handing wrong on a $2,000+ device is an expensive mistake. Stand OUTSIDE the door and face it: if the hinges are on the LEFT, it's Left Hand (LH). If the hinges are on the RIGHT, it's Right Hand (RH). For doors that swing toward you, add 'Reverse' — LHR or RHR.
