2227EO-F-SP28-4 Von Duprin 22 Series Exit Only Fire Rated Surface Vertical Rod Exit Device in Sprayed Aluminum
The Von Duprin 2227EO-F-SP28-4 is a wide stile surface vertical rod exit device for pairs of aluminum storefront doors where both leaves need to be active. Exit Only — push bar operation from inside only, no outside trim. Free egress from inside. No cylinder required for this function.
The 2227 latches at the header and threshold instead of the strike jamb — the standard choice when two active leaves share a single opening. Surface-mounted rods are visible on the door face. Available in 4-foot width. UL listed for fire exit hardware — no mechanical dogging on fire-rated models. ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1 certified.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: Fire-rated 2227-F models do NOT have mechanical dogging. That's UL code — fire doors must remain latched at all times. If the customer wants the doors to stay open during business hours, you need a magnetic hold-open device tied to the fire alarm system.
