Von Duprin 6211 Electric Strike — Satin Brass
The Von Duprin 6211 is the most specified electric strike in the 6200 line — the standard ANSI cylindrical prep strike. Works with virtually any cylindrical lockset including Schlage ND, Corbin Russwin CL, Sargent 10-line, Yale AU, and Arrow. Heavy-duty stainless steel with integrated faceplate. Factory configured as fail secure with 12VDC operation. Fire rated UL 10C to 3 hours. If you're adding electric release to a standard bored-lock door, this is almost always the right strike.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: This is a Fail Safe strike — it unlocks on power loss for life safety egress. That's what you want on most fire-rated doors and emergency exits. If you need it to stay locked during a power outage, order the FS (Fail Secure) version instead. Make sure you check the latchbolt throw on the existing lockset before ordering. The 62xx series is designed for a 1/2" latch throw — if you've got a mortise lock with a 3/4" or 1" bolt, you need the 6221 instead.
