Von Duprin 6211AL Electric Strike — Satin Stainless Steel
The Von Duprin 6211AL is the aluminum-frame version of the 6211. Faceplate adjusts for 5/8" or 3/4" throw to handle the tighter tolerances in aluminum storefront frames. Same heavy-duty stainless internals as the standard 6211. Factory configured as fail secure with 24VDC operation. Works with cylindrical locksets in Adams Rite-style aluminum door frames. Fire rated UL 10C. When the frame is aluminum and you need a cylindrical strike, the 6211AL has the adjustable geometry to make it work.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: This is a Fail Safe strike — it unlocks on power loss for life safety egress. That's what you want on most fire-rated doors and emergency exits. If you need it to stay locked during a power outage, order the FS (Fail Secure) version instead. Make sure you check the latchbolt throw on the existing lockset before ordering. The 62xx series is designed for a 1/2" latch throw — if you've got a mortise lock with a 3/4" or 1" bolt, you need the 6221 instead.
