Von Duprin 6211WF Electric Strike — Oil Rubbed Bronze
The Von Duprin 6211WF is the wide-faceplate version of the 6211. The oversized face covers old cutouts, oversized preps, or rough frame openings that a standard faceplate won't hide. Same stainless internals and reliability as the standard 6211. Factory configured as fail safe with dual signal monitoring switch. 24VDC operation. Fire rated UL 10C. Von Duprin recommends this model for several Folger Adam retrofits on wood frames (310-2, 310-2 3/4) because the wide face covers the existing prep. A lifesaver on renovation jobs.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: Make sure you check the latchbolt throw on the existing lockset before ordering. The 62xx series is designed for a 1/2" latch throw — if you've got a mortise lock with a 3/4" or 1" bolt, you need the 6221 instead. The Oil Rubbed Bronze finish has a dark brown finish with subtle copper highlights — typically spec'd for upscale commercial or ecclesiastical projects.
