Von Duprin 6215 Electric Strike — Oil Rubbed Bronze
The Von Duprin 6215 is a drop-in replacement for HES 5000 series electric strikes. Same cutout dimensions, same mounting holes — swap one for the other without touching the frame. Upgraded to Von Duprin's heavy-duty stainless construction. Factory configured as fail safe — power cuts, strike releases. 12VDC operation. Fire rated UL 10C. If you're pulling HES 5000s and stepping up to Von Duprin quality, this is your part number.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: The Oil Rubbed Bronze finish has a dark brown finish with subtle copper highlights — typically spec'd for upscale commercial or ecclesiastical projects.
