Von Duprin 6223 Electric Strike — Satin Stainless Steel
The Von Duprin 6223 directly replaces the older Von Duprin 3091 and 3092 strikes. Same prep, same holes — no frame modification. Upgraded stainless steel body with modern electronics. Factory configured as fail secure with 12VDC operation. Fire rated UL 10C. If you've got VD 3091s or 3092s in the building, this is the factory-blessed replacement.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: This is a Fail Safe strike — it unlocks on power loss for life safety egress. That's what you want on most fire-rated doors and emergency exits. If you need it to stay locked during a power outage, order the FS (Fail Secure) version instead. If you're pulling out old VD 3091s or 3092s, the 6223 drops right in. Same prep, same screw holes. Saves a lot of time on retrofit jobs.
