Von Duprin 6224AL Electric Strike —
The Von Duprin 6224AL is the aluminum-frame version of the 6224 with dual latchbolt monitoring. Adjustable faceplate geometry for aluminum storefront frames plus two independent position switches. Factory configured as fail secure with 12VDC operation. Fire rated UL 10C. For aluminum-frame doors where the access control system requires dual latch monitoring, this is the specific model.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: This is a Fail Safe strike — it unlocks on power loss for life safety egress. That's what you want on most fire-rated doors and emergency exits. If you need it to stay locked during a power outage, order the FS (Fail Secure) version instead.
