Von Duprin 6225 Electric Strike — Bright Brass
The Von Duprin 6225 combines open-back design with dual latchbolt monitoring. Built for thicker doors (1-3/4" to 2-1/4") where you need both extended-throw clearance and dual-signal confirmation. Factory configured as fail secure with 12VDC operation. Fire rated UL 10C. The most feature-packed strike in the 6200 line — open back, dual monitoring, and adjustable depth in one unit.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage. Required on most fire-rated egress doors for life safety. This is the default for fire exits and emergency egress paths.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: This is a Fail Safe strike — it unlocks on power loss for life safety egress. That's what you want on most fire-rated doors and emergency exits. If you need it to stay locked during a power outage, order the FS (Fail Secure) version instead.
