    The Sargent 8271-12V-WTL-10B is a Fail Secure function mortise lock from the 8200 Series — Sargent's flagship commercial mortise platform that's been trusted on schools, hospitals, office buildings, and government facilities for decades. Fail Secure electric operation wired for 12VDC from your access control panel. The lock stays locked when power is cut — the right choice for secured rooms where losing power should not mean losing security. Inside lever always free for egress.

    Fail Secure Operation — This lock stays locked when power is lost. If the building loses power or the access control panel goes down, this door stays locked from outside. Inside lever is always free for egress (code requirement). Use on server rooms, pharmacies, evidence rooms — anywhere keeping people OUT is the priority during an outage.
    Ships Less Cylinder — This lock does not include a mortise cylinder. You need to order a Sargent mortise cylinder separately to match your building's existing keyway (HA, LA, RA, RB, RC, etc.). The product image shows the lock with a cylinder installed for reference — yours will arrive without one.     This one comes with WT Escutcheon, L Lever in Oil Rubbed Bronze — the 10B finish with a living patina that develops character over time. Popular in boutique hotels, upscale restaurants, and residential-feeling commercial spaces.

    The L lever is Sargent's straight-design commercial lever — clean lines, ADA compliant, gets the job done without drawing attention to itself. The lever that disappears into the building.
