Product Description
ALX40-OME-606 Schlage ALX Series Cylindrical Lever Lock — Bath/Bedroom Privacy Lock, Omega Lever, Satin Brass
A bathroom door has two jobs. It has to lock from inside with one push, and somebody in the hall has to be able to get in if the person inside is in trouble. The ALX40 does both. Push the button in the inside lever and the outside lever goes dead. Turn the inside lever or close the door and the button lets go, so nobody gets locked out by accident. From the hall, the slot in the outside lever is the way in.
This one is the Omega lever on the Omega rose, in Satin Brass. The latch is a spring latch. Want the outside lever to spin free when locked? Schlage sells that as Vandlgard, catalog number ALXV40. Pick your backset in the dropdown: 2-3/4" is standard, 2-3/8" is the other choice. Measure from the door edge to the center of the bore before you order.

Pro-Installer FAQ
Q: How do I open it from the hall in an emergency?
A: Put the emergency key or a small flat screwdriver in the slot in the outside lever and turn it. That releases the button. The emergency key is sold separately, Schlage part number 35-270.
Q: Can someone get locked out if the door shuts with the button pushed?
A: No. Closing the door releases the button and unlocks the outside lever. Turning the inside lever does the same.
Q: Is this a Grade 1 lock?
A: The Omega lever is rated Grade 1 by Schlage, but the ALX Series as a lock is certified Grade 2. If the spec says Grade 1 for the whole lock, step up to the Schlage ND Series.
