Alarm Controls offers Pneumatic Timers (like the TS-2T) which require no power to stay active once pressed. This is a life-saver for backup egress because even if the power fails, the mechanical timer ensures the door releases for the required duration.

What is the difference between a "Momentary" and "Maintained" exit button?

A momentary button sends a pulse signal only while being pressed. A maintained button stays in the "on" position until pressed again. Most access control systems use momentary contacts.

Can I use an Alarm Controls maglock on an exterior door?

Yes, but ensure you select a model rated for outdoor use. The 1200LB models with potted electronics are suitable for exterior applications where weather exposure is a concern.

Do I need a separate power supply for the magnetic lock?

Yes. Magnetic locks require a dedicated 12VDC or 24VDC power supply. We recommend using a power supply with battery backup to maintain security during power outages.
