The Von Duprin EPT-2 transfers 2 conductors of low-voltage power from the frame to the door through a concealed hinge-side channel. Every electrified exit device, electric latch retraction lock, or door-mounted card reader needs power transferred from the frame to the door — this is how you do it without exposed wires.
The EPT mounts in a mortised channel at the hinge side of the door and frame. Wires run through the transfer loop that flexes as the door opens and closes — rated for millions of cycles.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: Count your conductors before ordering. 2-conductor EPT handles basic power (positive + negative). If you're running power PLUS a signal wire (like REX or door position monitoring), you need 3+ conductors. Most QEL installations need 2 conductors. RX+QEL combos need at least 4.
