The Schlage L9040-01L-630 is the L Series Privacy / Bath-Bedroom Lock (ANSI F22, Grade 1) in Satin Stainless Steel (US32D), built on the mortise case that has been the benchmark for commercial door hardware for decades. Emergency thumbturn access outside; thumbturn inside; latchbolt only. Restrooms, dressing rooms, and bedrooms where the occupant locks from inside and staff need emergency access without a key. The closing-door-unlocks feature prevents accidental lock-outs.
How This Function Operates
Outside: Lever made inoperative by rotating the inside thumbturn. To unlock from outside, remove the access-hole cover, insert the furnished emergency thumbturn and rotate.
Inside: Rotating the inside thumbturn unlocks the outside lever; turning the inside lever retracts the latchbolt and unlocks the outside lever. Closing the door also unlocks, preventing lock-out. Inside lever always free for egress.
