Looking for commercial padlocks, combination locks, or key management boxes for a job site? We stock Master Lock ProSeries and standard commercial hardware. Call our team at 877-365-5625 for bulk pricing or help selecting the right shackle clearance and security rating for your application.
Master Lock makes the padlock you see on every job site, storage unit, and maintenance shed in the country. At Lock Depot we stock the commercial and industrial side of the catalog — the ProSeries solid steel padlocks, resettable combination locks for managed access, and key management boxes for facilities that issue keys to multiple people.
The retail Master Lock at the hardware store and the commercial ProSeries are different products. The ProSeries uses a solid steel body, double-locking shackle, and heel-and-toe locking for cut and pry resistance that the standard die-cast zinc body does not have. If the application is an exterior chain, a utility meter, or high-turnover storage where someone might try a bolt cutter, specify ProSeries.
The 6230 is a solid steel padlock with a 2" wide body and a 1" shackle. Double-locking, heel-and-toe shackle locking, boron carbide shackle, three keys included. For standard overhead door hasps, storage unit bars, or equipment chains where cut resistance matters.
The 6230LHKD is the same body with a long shackle — the right call when the shackle needs to clear a thick chain link or a hasp with extra depth. Keyed alike option available when one key needs to open multiple locks on a job site.

Master Lock's 175 and 176 series are resettable combination padlocks for managed access — storage areas, gym lockers, site tool rooms where you need to change the combination without buying new hardware. The 176 includes a control key and reset tool so a supervisor can override any combination and reset it for a new user without knowing the old combination. This is the model for facilities where turnover is high and sharing a combination is not acceptable.
On a job site trailer with a rotating crew, the 176's control key reset means you change the combination at crew rollover without issuing a new lock. That's the use case it was designed for.

The 5401D and 5400D are wall-mounted key storage boxes for facilities that need to issue keys to multiple people from a single secured location. Combination access, holds multiple keys. Used on job sites, rental property management, and commercial facilities where a key must be accessible to authorized staff 24/7 without requiring a key holder to be present.

Pro Tip: ProSeries vs Standard
The solid steel ProSeries body is not cosmetically different from the standard die-cast zinc Master Lock — they look similar in a product photo. The difference is in the body material and shackle locking mechanism. If you are buying for an exterior application, a utility enclosure, or anywhere a determined person might try bolt cutters or pry bars, the ProSeries is the one to specify. The standard retail model will not hold up to the same attack. Check the SKU: ProSeries models have the solid steel designation in the title and a corresponding price premium.

What is the difference between a standard Master Lock and the ProSeries?
Standard Master Lock padlocks use a die-cast zinc body. The ProSeries uses a solid steel body, a boron carbide shackle for cut resistance, and heel-and-toe double locking so a pry attack on the shackle doesn't pop the lock. The ProSeries is significantly harder to defeat by bolt cutter or pry. It also costs more.
What does "keyed alike" mean on a padlock order?
Keyed alike means multiple padlocks are keyed to the same bitting — one key opens all of them. Standard for job site operations where one supervisor key needs to access every locked point. The opposite is keyed different — each padlock has its own unique key.
How does the 176 control key work?
The 176 has two access levels: a user combination and a supervisor control key. The control key opens the lock regardless of what combination is set, and it resets the combination. A facility manager can reassign the lock to a new user by resetting the combination with the control key — no locksmith required.
What shackle diameter does the 6230 use?
The 6230 uses a 9/32" diameter boron carbide shackle. Boron carbide is significantly harder than hardened steel — bolt cutters that cut through standard shackles will not cut through boron carbide at the same jaw force.
