Specifying exit hardware for an exterior door exposed to weather? The Von Duprin OUT99EO is the 99 Series rim exit device built specifically for outdoor applications — courtyards, rooftops, perimeter security gates, patios, and exterior stairwells. It goes through the same salt fog, rain, and temperature cycling tests that would destroy a standard indoor device in a season. If you've ever had to replace a rusted-out panic bar on a rooftop access door, this is the product that prevents that callback.
Exit Only (EO) function — push bar operation from the inside only, no outside trim. The latch retracts when you press the bar and deadlocks when the door closes. No cylinder required for this function. Non-handed, so it works on any door regardless of swing direction.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: The OUT series includes optional weep holes drilled every 6 inches along the mechanism case — 5 holes on a 3-foot device. If you're mounting this on an exterior door that takes direct rain, drill those weep holes open during install. Trapped moisture is the number one killer of exit device internals on outdoor applications. Also, the 26D Satin Chrome holds up better in coastal environments than the 28 Aluminum finish — less pitting from salt air over time.
