Rim exit devices are the simplest and most common configuration — the latch engages the strike at the edge of the door. One device, one strike, one installation.
The Sargent 12-8873E-3 is a fire-rated Grade 1 rim exit device from the 80 Series for 32" openings with Fail Safe function. UL listed for fire-rated openings up to 3 hours.
Fire Rated (12- prefix) — This device is UL listed for fire-rated openings. Do NOT substitute a non-fire-rated device (8- prefix) on a fire-rated opening — your fire marshal will require removal and replacement.
Bright Brass — the classic 03 finish. Traditional, formal, and still specified on government buildings, courthouses, and historic renovations.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: The most expensive exit device mistake we see? Ordering concealed vertical rod for a door that's not prepped for it. CVR devices require internal routing channels in the door — you can't retrofit a standard hollow metal door. If the door isn't prepped, go surface vertical rod instead.

Warranty Information
Sargent provides a 5-year limited warranty on mechanical components of exit devices and a 2-year limited warranty on electromechanical components, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service.
