Rim exit devices are the simplest and most common configuration — the latch engages the strike at the edge of the door. One device, one strike, one installation.
The Sargent 12-8874G-12V-ETL-LHR-10 is a fire-rated Grade 1 rim exit device from the 80 Series for 48" openings with Fail Secure function. UL listed for fire-rated openings up to 3 hours.

Fire Rated (12- prefix) — This device is UL listed for fire-rated openings. Do NOT substitute a non-fire-rated device (8- prefix) on a fire-rated opening — your fire marshal will require removal and replacement.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: Exit devices are HANDED — and getting the handing wrong on a $2,000+ device is an expensive mistake. Stand OUTSIDE the door and face it: if the hinges are on the LEFT, it's Left Hand (LH). If the hinges are on the RIGHT, it's Right Hand (RH). For doors that swing toward you, add 'Reverse' — LHR or RHR.
