20-079 643E Schlage FSIC Rim Cylinder Housing, Less Core — Aged Bronze
On a building keyed to Schlage full-size interchangeable cores, the core is the part that carries the key system — the housing on the door is just the shell it drops into. When a rim cylinder housing on an exit device or storefront door gets damaged, or you are adding a door to a system that already runs Schlage FSIC cores, you do not need a whole new cylinder. The Schlage 20-079 is that rim housing on its own, in Aged Bronze (643E/643e). Put it on the door, and your control key sets the existing core in.
Less core means less core. This ships as the housing only — no core and no keys. If you want the housing with a standard core already in it, that part is the Schlage 20-057. Buy the 20-079 when you already have cores, pin your own, or the facility controls its own core inventory.
FSIC is not SFIC. This housing takes a Schlage full-size interchangeable core (the 23-030 family). It will not take a small format, figure-8 core of the BEST type — those need an SFIC housing. Check which core you have before you order.

Q: Does the 20-079 come with a core or keys?
A: No. It is the housing only. Use the Schlage full-size IC core you already have, order a Schlage 23-030 core, or buy the 20-057, which is this housing sold with a standard core.
Q: Will a BEST or other small format IC core fit this housing?
A: No. The 20-079 is built for Schlage full-size interchangeable cores. Small format (SFIC) figure-8 cores are a different size and need an SFIC housing.
Q: My door is over 3" thick once the exit device is on. Will this reach?
A: The standard 20-079 is not for that. Schlage makes a special long version for doors over 3" thick, part XB11-958, and you have to count the device and trim thickness on top of the door. Call us at (877) 365-5625 before you order and we will work out the length with you.
