Product Description
4513-35-IB Adams Rite 4510 Series Standard Duty Deadlatch Body — 1-1/8" Backset, LH/RHR, Less Faceplate and Strike
On a busy storefront the deadlatch takes a beating every time the door swings shut, and sooner or later the latchbolt sticks or the hold-back stops holding. When the faceplate and strike on the door are still good, you do not need the full lock — you need the body. The 4513-35-IB is the Adams Rite 4510 Series standard duty deadlatch with no faceplate and no strike plate. Swap the body, re-use the faceplate and strike that are already on the door, and the opening is back in service.
The 4510 Series is the traffic-control deadlatch: turn the key or work the paddle and the spring-loaded latchbolt retracts. Push the bolt in and give the key a reverse turn and the bolt stays retracted, so the door swings free for business hours and goes back to latching after close. An all-metal auxiliary bolt deadlocks the latchbolt so it cannot be slipped with a card or case knife. Adams Rite builds this body interchangeable, without stile modification, with an MS1850S deadlock of the same backset and faceplate shape — but it is a deadlatch, not a deadlock, and it does not give the same security level as the MS® deadlock.

Pro-Installer FAQ
Q: Can I swap an MS deadlock out for this deadlatch?
A: Adams Rite builds the 4510 to fit, without stile modification, in place of an MS1850S deadlock of the same backset and faceplate shape. It changes the door from a deadlock to a latching, hold-back deadlatch — check that is what the owner wants before you swap it.
Q: Which strike do I need?
A: The standard 4510 strike is the 4902-01 for a flat jamb where the door closes flush. The longer 4901 strike covers the slot left by an MS lock strike, and long-lip strikes are made for center-hung doors. None ship with this body — order the one your jamb needs.
Q: The door is the other hand. Do I need a different part?
A: No. It is boxed for left hand or right hand reverse, and Adams Rite makes the handing reversible in the field without special tools.
Q: What cylinder, thumbturn and paddle go with this body?
A: Any standard 1" mortise cylinder with an MS® cam. Adams Rite's own is the 4036-01 mortise cylinder, and for a thumbturn on the inside, the 4066-01 thumbturn. The paddles for this deadlatch are the 4590 and 4591 with first dash -01 to -04 (the 4300/4500/4900 deadlatch versions). They are ordered by push or pull, door hand and door thickness — see our Adams Rite deadlatch paddles. Adams Rite also lists the 4560, 4565 and 4568 deadlatch handles for this lock.
