Mortise exit devices latch through a mortise lock case set into the edge of the door — the same pocket a mortise lockset uses. The door must be prepped for the mortise case before you order.
The Sargent 5556-8904E-RHR-BSP is a Grade 1 mortise exit device from the Sargent 80 Series (8900 mortise) for 32" openings with Storeroom function — outside trim is always locked, key required for every entry. Push bar always operates from inside for emergency egress.
