Mortise exit devices latch through a mortise lock case set into the edge of the door — the same pocket a mortise lockset uses. The door must be prepped for the mortise case before you order.
The Sargent 56-8904F-RHR-4 is a Grade 1 mortise exit device from the Sargent 80 Series (8900 mortise) for 36" openings with Storeroom function — outside trim is always locked, key required for every entry. Push bar always operates from inside for emergency egress.
