Von Duprin 6211AL Electric Strike —
The Von Duprin 6211AL is the aluminum-frame version of the 6211. Faceplate adjusts for 5/8" or 3/4" throw to handle the tighter tolerances in aluminum storefront frames. Same heavy-duty stainless internals as the standard 6211. Factory configured as fail secure with 12VDC operation. Works with cylindrical locksets in Adams Rite-style aluminum door frames. Fire rated UL 10C. When the frame is aluminum and you need a cylindrical strike, the 6211AL has the adjustable geometry to make it work.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: This is a Fail Secure strike — it stays locked when power is lost, with key override from outside. Free egress from inside is always provided by the exit device itself, not by the strike. If you need the opening to release on power loss instead, order the FS version. Make sure you check the latchbolt throw on the existing lockset before ordering. The 62xx series is designed for a 1/2" latch throw — if you've got a mortise lock with a 3/4" or 1" bolt, you need the 6221 instead.
