Von Duprin 6222 Electric Strike — Oil Rubbed Bronze
The Von Duprin 6222 is the adjustable-depth open-back strike for 1-3/4" and 2-1/4" doors. Handles thick doors that other strikes can't reach. Open-back design with heavy-duty stainless construction. Factory configured as fail secure with 12VDC operation. Fire rated UL 10C. If the door is thicker than standard 1-3/4" and you need open-back clearance, the 6222 is the only model in the line that handles both requirements.
⚡ Fail Safe vs. Fail Secure — What's the Difference?
Fail Safe — Strike unlocks when power is lost. The door can be opened freely during a power outage.
Fail Secure — Strike remains locked when power is lost. Key override is always available from outside. Used for server rooms, evidence rooms, or anywhere security must be maintained during a power failure. The mechanical push bar still allows free egress from inside.
Pro-Tip from Our Locksmiths: This is a Fail Secure strike — it stays locked when power is lost, with key override from outside. Free egress from inside is always provided by the exit device itself, not by the strike. If you need the opening to release on power loss instead, order the FS version. The Oil Rubbed Bronze finish has a dark brown finish with subtle copper highlights — typically spec'd for upscale commercial or ecclesiastical projects.
