The Sargent 8238-LNW-4 is a 8200 Series Classroom Security Intruder Latchbolt mortise lock in Satin Brass. A key from either side — outside or inside — locks and unlocks the outside lever, so the room can be locked down without stepping into the corridor. Sargent’s published function text states: “Trim inside always retracts latchbolt.” This function is latchbolt-only with an auxiliary deadlatch (an anti-shim feature); it has no deadbolt. ANSI F32 (per Sargent’s published catalog).
