Butt hinges on a high-frequency commercial door wear out, sag, and squeal within a few years — the pin and knuckle design just isn't built for hundreds of cycles a day. The Select SL24 replaces the full-length butt hinge run with a concealed geared continuous hinge: no exposed pins, no mortise prep beyond the standard hinge line, and a load rating that keeps up with heavy doors and heavy traffic.

A: No. The SL24 is a surface-mount, no-mortise design with a 1/16" door inset — it installs over the existing hinge line without cutting new mortises.
Q: My door is over 450 lbs — is HD600 enough?
A: HD600 is rated to 600 lbs for high-frequency use, but Select recommends rivnuts in the frame and door once the door exceeds 450 lbs. For low-to-medium-frequency doors up to 1,000 lbs, including most lead-lined doors, step up to the HD(LL) version.
Q: What length do I order for a standard 7'0" door?
A: 83" is the standard length for a nominal 7'0" door opening. Select also offers 85", 95", and 120" for taller openings, plus custom lengths.
