Memory care facilities, retail loss prevention, and secured government areas all need the same thing: a code-compliant way to delay exit without trapping anyone in a fire. The Detex FV40 delayed egress device provides a 15-second hold (field-selectable to 30) with audible and visual warning — then releases clean.
This is a fire-rated device. UL listed for up to 3-hour fire-rated door assemblies. Required for fire-rated openings per NFPA 80.

Pro-Installer FAQ
Can this device be cut down for narrower doors?
Yes, the pushbar can be field-cut for doors narrower than standard width. Measure carefully and cut from the hinge end only. The lock stile end must remain factory length for proper strike engagement.
Can the delay be changed from 15 to 30 seconds?
Yes, the device is field-selectable between 15 and 30 seconds. However, a 30-second delay requires written approval from your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) or Fire Marshal before installation.
Can I add dogging to a fire-rated device?
No. Fire-rated openings require positive latching on every door closure per NFPA 80. This is why fire-rated models come with LD (Less Dogging) — dogging of any kind voids the fire rating.
