Retrofit jobs on access-controlled openings hit the same problem every time: the existing electric hinge or power transfer is wired with old 28-gauge fly-leads that need to be soldered or terminated in place, and you are working in a tight hinge cavity with the door hung. The McKinney ElectroLynx system eliminates that. Both ends of the harness terminate in keyed Molex connectors that snap together by hand, so the field tech is matching connectors instead of stripping wires inside the hinge mortise. The QC-C006 is the 6-inch jumper, 12-wire, with Molex connectors on both ends — the workhorse harness for connecting an ElectroLynx-prepped electric hinge to an electrified strike, exit device trim, or transfer module mounted near the hinge side of the frame.

It is also the connector you order when the original kit shipment is missing the jumper, which happens on phased construction projects more often than it should. The same Molex connector pattern is used across the full ElectroLynx line, so this harness will mate to any ASSA ABLOY EL-prepped device. If the existing hinge has 18-gauge or 28-gauge fly-leads instead of Molex connectors, you also need a QC-R001 Molex Repair/Service Kit to terminate the bare wires before this harness will mate.

Q: My existing hinge has bare 18-gauge wires, not Molex connectors. Can I use this harness?
A: Not directly. You need a QC-R001 Molex Repair/Service Kit to terminate the bare wires into a Molex connector first. Once the existing hinge has a Molex pigtail, the QC-C006 mates to it.
Q: How long is the actual run from hinge to exit device?
A: The QC-C006 finished length is 6 inches end-of-connector to end-of-connector. McKinney also makes longer QC-C harnesses (12", 18", 36") plus extension cables up to 15 feet to wrap around full-lite metal doors. Order the closest length that lets you route without slack.
Q: Does the 12-wire count mean I have to use all 12 conductors?
A: No. Most installs use 6-8 conductors (exit device latch retraction, RX, monitor, lock status, plus power). The extra conductors give you headroom for adding a request-to-exit, a door position switch, or a future device without re-pulling cable.

McKinney (ASSA ABLOY) Limited Warranty
McKinney, an ASSA ABLOY brand, warrants its hinges, electric hinges, and ElectroLynx wiring components sold in the United States to be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal use and service.
Coverage period for this product (ElectroLynx QC harness): one (1) year on the wiring harness and connectors from the date of delivery to the original purchaser, when properly installed and used within its rated voltage and current carrying capacity.
What is covered: defects in workmanship and materials under normal use and service. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the harness or component that proves defective during the warranty period.
What is NOT covered: defects or damage arising from improper installation (including pinching the harness in the hinge mortise, exceeding the bend radius, or terminating Molex connectors with non-standard tools), use outside the rated voltage and current, exposure to moisture or chemicals beyond the rated environment, abrasion against frame edges, or modification of the harness or its connectors (cutting, splicing, or substituting non-McKinney connectors).
Conditions that void warranty: any modification to the harness or its connectors, including cutting to length, splicing, or terminating with non-Molex connectors, voids the warranty regardless of whether the modification causes or contributes to the alleged defect. Use of the QC-R001 Molex Repair/Service Kit per McKinney instructions is the only authorized field-termination path; using non-McKinney crimp tools or pin sets voids the warranty.
Implied warranties and damages: this warranty is in lieu of all other express warranties. To the extent permitted by law, all implied warranties are limited to the duration of this warranty. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages, including labor cost to remove and replace a defective harness. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
