Product Description
Adams Rite 8802MLR-36 — Narrow Stile Rim Exit Device with Motorized Latch Retraction, 36", Dark Bronze Anodized
The Adams Rite 8800 is the narrow-stile rim exit device built for aluminum storefront and glass entrance doors — the slim aluminum frames where a standard wide-stile panic device simply will not fit. This is the MLR (Motorized Latch Retraction) configuration: an electric motor inside the device pulls the latch back on command, so the door can be released remotely from an access-control system, a card reader, a push button, or a time clock, while still functioning as code-required panic hardware for anyone exiting.
At the heart of the 8800 is Adams Rite's patented Starwheel deadlatching mechanism. Push the bar and the latch retracts to let people out; let go and the Starwheel re-latches and deadlocks the bolt against the strike, so the door cannot be jimmied or pried from the pull side. It is a clean, low-profile look that suits modern aluminum entrances, and it carries the certifications a commercial opening needs.
What "MLR" gives you over a mechanical exit device
Motorized Latch Retraction is the quiet, low-current way to electrify an exit device. Unlike a solenoid (EL) version that snaps with an audible clack and draws a heavy inrush, the MLR motor draws very little power, runs cool on a continuous-duty basis, and is well suited to integration with an access-control panel. Energize the device and the latch stays retracted so the door pushes or pulls freely (electric dogging); cut power and it re-latches. That makes it the right choice when you want a storefront door to free-wheel during business hours and re-secure after close, or to be released by a credential at a reader — without an operator ever touching the hardware.
Where this device is used
Aluminum storefront and entrance doors on retail, office, medical, school, and institutional buildings — anywhere life-safety code requires single-motion egress (panic hardware) on a narrow-stile aluminum door, and the building also wants electronic access control on that opening. The 36" model fits a standard 36" door opening. Field-selectable handing means the same device works on a left- or right-hand door; you set it during installation.

Works With / Pairs With
Run the MLR's low-voltage leads back to an Adams Rite or compatible access-control power supply sized for motorized latch retraction; pair the opening with a card reader, keypad, or push button for release. For keyed mechanical entry from the outside, add Adams Rite 3080-series entry trim, or 3090 eForce keypad trim for standalone keyless entry. Order the matching strike, power supply, and trim separately to suit the opening.
Lock Depot sells brand-new Adams Rite hardware with the full factory warranty. Configuration of electrified exit hardware varies by opening — if you are not sure the MLR option, voltage, or trim is right for your door, contact us before you order and we will confirm the build.
