Product Description
HPC CE-500M2 — Medeco KeyMark Carbide Drill Tip
This is the carbide-tipped drill bit you need when you're working on Medeco KeyMark cylinders. If you've ever tried to drill a Medeco with a standard bit, you know it doesn't end well — the hardened pins and sidebar chew through regular steel in seconds. The CE-500M2 is purpose-built for that job.
The carbide tip cuts cleanly at the shear line without wandering. It's sized at 1/2 inch to match the standard Medeco KeyMark pin stack. One bit, one application — this isn't a general-purpose drill bit, and it shouldn't be. When you need to bypass a KeyMark cylinder, this is the tool that actually works.
Comes as a single bit. Keep a spare on your van — when you need it, you need it now, not next Tuesday.
Why carbide and not high-speed steel? Medeco KeyMark runs hardened anti-drill pins and a sidebar that will dull or grab a standard HSS bit almost immediately. Carbide holds its edge against that hardened material so you can keep steady pressure on the shear line instead of fighting the bit. Run it at a moderate RPM with a few drops of cutting oil and let the tip do the work — don't lean on it.
This is a destructive-entry tool, intended for authorized locksmiths opening cylinders they are legally entitled to open. Once it's drilled, a KeyMark cylinder is compromised and should be replaced, not re-pinned — plan to swap the cylinder as part of the same call.
Who this is for & when you reach for it
This bit belongs in the kit of any locksmith who handles high-security restricted keyways. Medeco KeyMark is specified on cabinets, server racks, pharmacy and narcotics storage, utility enclosures, and master-key systems where the customer paid for pick-and-drill resistance. When a KeyMark cylinder has to come open and there is no key — a lost-key lockout, an eviction, a foreclosure cleanout, a deceased-owner estate, or a probate situation — standard destructive entry won't get you there. The hardened anti-drill pins and the sidebar are engineered to stop exactly that.
The CE-500M2 is part of HPC's Cylinder Entry program, which pairs application-specific carbide bits with the correct drill points so you attack the shear line and the sidebar rather than chewing the whole face off the lock. Used correctly, you defeat the cylinder cleanly, document the work, and replace the core — the professional outcome the customer is paying for.
Compatibility: Medeco KeyMark cylinders. This is not a substitute for the Medeco Original / Biaxial bits — match the bit to the cylinder generation. If you are not certain which Medeco platform you are looking at, photograph the key and the keyway and we'll help you confirm before you drill.
