The Schlage L9480P-18A-612 is the L Series Storeroom Lock with Deadbolt (Grade 1) in Satin Bronze (US10), built on the mortise case that has been the benchmark for commercial door hardware for decades. Key cylinder outside; thumbturn inside; deadbolt, latchbolt and deadlocking auxiliary latch. Outside lever always fixed. Storeroom and secured-storage doors where the outside lever stays fixed at all times and a thumbturn-controlled deadbolt adds positive locking, while occupants always retain single-motion egress. The emergency-key-only deadbolt retraction keeps the outside face hard-secured.
How This Function Operates
Outside: Outside lever (or knob) is always fixed. Latchbolt is retracted by the inside lever. Key outside retracts the latchbolt but does NOT retract the deadbolt unless an emergency key (sold separately) is used.
Inside: Deadbolt is thrown or retracted by rotating the inside thumbturn. Rotating the inside lever retracts both the deadbolt and latchbolt. Inside lever always free for immediate egress.
Key: Key outside retracts the latchbolt only; deadbolt retraction from outside requires the separate emergency key. Optional XL13-439 allows an emergency key to retract both bolts overriding a held thumbturn. Not available in SFIC or Everest SL formats.
