The Schlage L9486P-01A-626-LH is the L Series Faculty / Hotel Restroom Lock with Chevron Indicator (Grade 1) in Satin Chrome (US26D), built on the mortise case that has been the benchmark for commercial door hardware for decades. Key cylinder outside; thumbturn inside; deadbolt and latchbolt with 180-degree chevron occupancy indicator. Single-occupant faculty and hotel restrooms where a visible OCCUPIED / vacant chevron indicator prevents awkward door-rattling. The high-visibility 180-degree indicator is readable down the corridor. Handing is specified so the indicator faces the corridor side.
How This Function Operates
Outside: Latchbolt retracted by lever from either side. Outside lever is made inoperative when the deadbolt is thrown by key outside or by the inside thumbturn; when thrown, the indicator message changes from blank to OCCUPIED.
Inside: Rotating the inside lever retracts both the deadbolt and latchbolt and unlocks the outside lever. Inside lever always free for immediate egress.
Key: Key outside retracts the deadbolt and unlocks the outside lever. Optional XL13-439 key override available. Available in rose trim only; handing must be specified.
