ND50JD-OME-625 Schlage ND Series Cylindrical Lever Lock — Entrance/Office Lock, Omega Lever, Bright Chrome
Somebody in an office wants to lock the door with a thumb and not hunt for a key. The ND50 gives them that: a push button in the inside lever. Push it and the outside lever goes dead. A key from the hall, or a turn of the inside lever, lets it go again. Here is what catches people on the first day. The key unlocks this lock but it will not lock it. The inside lever is always free.
This one is the Omega lever on the Omega rose, with its lever prepped for a full size interchangeable core and no core in the box, in Bright Chrome. The latch is a deadlatch. Want the outside lever to spin free when locked? Schlage sells that as Vandlgard, function ND91. Pick your backset in the dropdown: 2-3/4" is standard, 2-3/8" is the other choice. Measure from the door edge to the center of the bore before you order.

Q: Why won't the key lock this from the hall?
A: It is not supposed to. On function 50 the key only unlocks; the inside button does the locking. If the key has to lock it from outside, you want the ND70 classroom lock. If the door should always be locked, you want the ND80 storeroom lock.
Q: Which core goes in this?
A: A full size interchangeable core, bought separately. This one is less core, so the lever arrives ready for it with nothing in it.
Q: Is this a Grade 1 lock?
A: Yes. The ND Series is ANSI/BHMA Certified A156.2 Grade 1, Series 4000. If the job does not call for Grade 1, Schlage's ALX Series is the Grade 2 cylindrical line.
