ND53PD-TLR-606 Schlage ND Series Cylindrical Lever Lock — Entrance Lock, Tubular Lever, Satin Brass
A front desk door needs two kinds of locked. Locked until the next person opens it, and locked until somebody means to unlock it. The ND53 has a push/turn button in the inside lever for that. Push the button and a key or a turn of the inside lever unlocks the door, same as an office lock. Push and turn it and they only pull the latch back; the outside lever stays locked until the button is turned back to its start position. The key outside never locks this lock.
This one is the Tubular lever on the Rhodes rose, with a conventional 6-pin cylinder keyed 5, in the Schlage C keyway, keyed different, in Satin Brass. The latch is a deadlatch. Want the outside lever to spin free when locked? Schlage sells that as Vandlgard, function ND92. Pick your backset in the dropdown: 2-3/4" is standard, 2-3/8" is the other choice. Measure from the door edge to the center of the bore before you order.

Pro-Installer FAQ
Q: What is the catch with the push/turn button?
A: Lock-out. If you walk out with the button pushed and turned and do not fully release it, the outside lever stays locked behind you. Schlage prints that caution on this function, so tell whoever uses the door.
Q: Will this key into my building's system?
A: Only if your building runs the Schlage C keyway. It ships keyed different, not master keyed. Schlage's default on most ND orders is Everest 29 S123, and that is a different key, so check which one you have before you order.
Q: Is this a Grade 1 lock?
A: Yes. The ND Series is ANSI/BHMA Certified A156.2 Grade 1, Series 4000. If the job does not call for Grade 1, Schlage's ALX Series is the Grade 2 cylindrical line.
