Rixson: The Leader in Specialty Door Control and Concealed Pivots

When the aesthetic or the weight of the door demands something more than a standard hinge, architects and locksmiths turn to Rixson. Known for their legendary Heavy-Duty Floor Closers and Offset Pivots, Rixson provides the structural support needed for doors weighing up to 1,500 lbs. At Lock Depot, we stock the specialized pivots and concealed hardware used in high-end commercial and institutional design.

We carry the Rixson 7215 Offset Pivot Sets and the Rixson 28 Series floor-mounted closers. Whether you are working on a lead-lined radiology door or a massive glass "patch-fitting" entrance, Rixson provides the pivot point that ensures the door remains perfectly aligned for decades. We specialize in providing the complete kits, including top pivots and floor cement cases.

PRO TIP: Leveling the Cement Case

When installing a Rixson 28 or 27 Series floor closer, the cement case must be perfectly level and flush with the finished floor. If the case is tilted, the spindle will bind, leading to rapid wear of the bottom arm and pivot. Always use a string line and level before the grout sets; there is very little "wiggle room" once the floor is finished.

Rixson pivots and closers ship new in box with full warranty from our 8+ warehouses across America. In-stock orders before 2 PM EST go out same-day.

Rixson Pivot & Closer FAQ

Why use a Rixson pivot instead of a continuous hinge?

Pivots allow for a "cleaner" aesthetic and can handle significantly more weight (up to 1,500 lbs) than most hinges, making them ideal for heavy custom doors.

What is the difference between "Center Hung" and "Offset" pivots?

Offset pivots allow the door to swing 180 degrees and are visible on the edge. Center-hung pivots are concealed and allow the door to swing in both directions.

Can a Rixson floor closer be repaired?

We sell replacement Rixson Closer Bodies for most legacy units. Often, you can keep the existing cement case and just swap the internal mechanical closer.
