4040XP-H-US4 LCN Heavy-Duty Surface Mount Door Closer with Hold-Open Arm in Satin Brass (US4)
You have a high-traffic interior door that needs to stay open at a set angle so people, carts, or stretchers can pass through, then close fully on its own when released. The 4040XP-H is the regular hold-open arm assembly for LCN's heaviest-duty surface closer. The arm itself mounts pull-side hinge or top-jamb, hold-open is adjustable right at the shoe. No handing required — same part fits left-hand or right-hand door.

Q: Do I need to specify left-hand or right-hand for this closer?
A: No. The 4040XP-H regular hold-open arm is non-handed — same part installs on either swing. Set the hold-open angle at the shoe during install. The handing matters on the HEDA (Extra Duty Arm) version, not this one.
Q: Where on the door does this mount?
A: Pull-side hinge mount is the standard for the regular arm. Top-jamb is also supported with the same kit. For parallel-arm mounting (push side), order the 4040XP-Hw/PA which includes the parallel arm shoe.
Q: Can I retrofit this onto an existing 4041 or older 4040 install?
A: The 4040XP shares the mounting footprint and templating of the 4041, so most retrofits drop in. Older 4040 (non-XP) installs usually match too — verify with the peel-and-stick template before drilling.
