    PRO TIP: Preventing the "Pry-Bar" Attack

For out-swinging doors, always install a latch protector that covers the strike plate; it physically blocks the gap, making it nearly impossible to "shim" or pry the latch back.

    Can a Don-Jo wrap plate repair a door after a break-in?

    Yes. The wrap plate covers the damaged area around the lock prep, reinforcing the wood or metal and allowing you to install a new lock without replacing the entire door.

    What is the difference between a latch protector and a latch guard?

    They serve the same purpose — preventing someone from prying or shimming the latch bolt. "Latch Protector" is the Don-Jo product name, while "Latch Guard" is the generic industry term.

    Do Don-Jo plates come in different finishes?

    Yes. Most Don-Jo products are available in Satin Stainless (630), Bright Brass (605), and Oil Rubbed Bronze (613). Stainless steel is the most popular for commercial applications.

    How do I convert a mortise lock door to a cylindrical lock?

    Use a Don-Jo conversion plate (wrap-around) designed for this purpose. It covers the old mortise pocket and provides a clean surface for a standard 2-1/8" cylindrical bore prep.
